Edgeworth is a suburb of Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia, located 18 kilometres (11 mi) west of Newcastle's central business district. It is part of the City of Lake Macquarie local government area.

Edgeworth was originally known as Cocked Hat Creek until 1885 where it was referred to as Young Wallsend. In December 1960 Young Wallsend adopted its present name in honour of the geologist Sir Tannatt William Edgeworth David who, arriving in NSW in 1882, pioneered geological surveying of the coal seams in the Hunter Valley.

Edgeworth has a minor shopping centre with a Coles supermarket, a bowling club, three schools, an aged care facility, McDonalds Restaurant, a pub, and its own junior and senior soccer clubs, the Edgeworth Eagles.
